THE GIFT CLOSET

My dream closet (Flickr)
Well, I had a 8am PTO (GPO at our school-Greenhills Parent Organization) meeting and then had to race to a coffee to celebrate a girls friend's birthday. Of course I usually have an array of gifts there including books, candles, etc. I went there an it only had next year's Christmas gifts (sale items).

I am constantly collecting gifts all year just for today and am behind in the girlfriend area. Do you have a gift closet? I need some good stocking ideas--Pier 1 has some pink, green, red, etc. leather covered tape measures for $2.00. I always find some cute little cookbooks at Micheal's. I just need some thoughts for hostess gifts, birthdays, etc. It is good to stock up.

Off to Target for an ornament box, my cleaning lady did not come, my kid's have several friends coming over tonight, etc. After target, of to my son's belated New Year's party (Christmas party was cancelled because of snow). Let me know your thoughts.

Ice Cream week post later today or tomorrow.

I hope you did not get skunked at Tarjay as I did when I went to get an ornament box this week- they were all out! I will know better next year. On the girlfriend gift front, I always love getting notecards and picture frames. Notepads (grocery lists, fun post-its etc. ) are great. I also like to use my coupons that come from the big box bookstores for 40% off cookbooks that I like. Fun treats from the kitchen: fancy sea salt, microplaners, silicone spatulas in great colors. Hope that helps.

Can I please have that closet :) Thanks for your comment - I agree, family is the most important! I think I like smaller schools too.

I love that closet. I barely have a closet in this house much less a gift closet. Great idea though.

Etsy has some wonderful stationary, jewelry, and bath products among other things.

Thanks for visiting my blog earlier this week.

I have a couple of gift drawers. Last year was so busy that I didn't do a good job keeping up but I'm going to do better this year!

That closet is GORGEOUS! I could imagine spending hours in there. The gift closet is a great idea...my mom always keeps cute things on hand. It's something I need to start doing as well. I noticed so many cute note cards, stationary, and journals at Borders and Target. I was thinking about getting some little things like that to stock up on.

This is such a fun topic to read about MIss PPPG, we always enjoy seeing if other people do the Gift Closet. We have one that tends to be used in cycles, and is replenished or depleted in cycles as well. Of course TSU (The Spousal Unit) refers to it as The Prize Closet, which somehow just takes away any semblance of elegance, IMHO.

one of my magazines had some hostess ideas - wine bottles with custom made paper tags, a candle box with different size candles and matches, and take out boxes for sending food home at the end of the night. I think BBW is great when they have sales as well.

If I had this closet, I would put a big lock on it so I could hide out from my kids and husband! My keep a lot of hostess gifts like linen hand towels and cocktail napkins in my gift closet. It's definitely a great idea!

Oh I have a gift closet! I collect things from everywhere and now it's overflowing.

One thing I like is those spoon holders/rests/whatever-you-call-it, you put by your stove to hold your cooking utensils. Marshalls & TJs have had some really really beautiful ones in recent years (like made in Tuscany, etc.) and they will only be like $3.99!! They make a really beautiful hostess gift. They look impressive and ANYONE can use more than one...and espcially a pretty one.

Just a tip. ;-)
