THE WEDDING DANCE-Protecting the Innocent

We attempted to go the DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts) to see the below painting and other works. My son was sick so the girls and I headed to the Andy Warhol exhibit at Cranbrook (it leaves on Monday). Many of Andy W. polaroids were on exhibit (a few had high pornographic content , but I guess if taken by an certified"artist" are considered to be art). Anyway, I directed my daughter's eyes back to the Campbell Soup cans.

One of my favorite paintings is the Wedding Dance by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. This is one of my favorite paintings because when I was young, we had this in our classroom. Because it was going to be viewed by young eyes, it was edited or painted over by those people who print art for classrooms.

See if you can see what was edited to protect the innocent. Wouldn't it be easier to select another painting for our classroom?

I spotted it right away, guess I just have a dirty mind. Great work of art though. Thanks for sharing.
