MARTHA STEWART INSIDE SCOOP & SCANDAL FROM KMART DAYS

Well, friends....I have been a pretty sick with the flu--yes the real flu that happened to be the strand that was not covered by our lovely flu shots. Every year my children seem to be traumatized by getting this little shot, so since they and I contracted the flu, next year I am sure will be an easy sell for the shot again! I have really missed you all and keeping up on your lives.

While watching non stop television for the past week, I happened to watch Martha Stewart and her Inaugural Luncheon edition and it reminded me of my husband's many experiences working with her while he was a executive at Kmart. Even though I do not care for her personally, I am a stil a huge fan of the Martha Stewart machine

1. Anytime she was hired and was put up at a hotel (paid for by Kmart), she would empty the mini bar! Yes, this multi-millionaire would empty the mini bar and bill Kmart for it. This was even before her prison days.

2. While in the receiving line to meet Bill Clinton which she was a guest of Kmart, she was appalled that she had to wait in line with everyone else. You heard it right. When Clinton met her, he just said hello like he would to anyone else and she was unbelievably bothered by this and would not calm down for about an hour.

Her Inaugural show focused on the Congressional Luncheon meal served after the actual Inauguration. She managed to give indirect little digs about how she would have done things including having a table setting. Guess what Martha, they did not consult you or hire you!

While preparing the meal, I saw Martha slyly wiping her nose with a tissue and then went on cooking without washing her hands--perfection and great catering lessons--I think not!

Not to be hard on Martha, but she not a very nice person. I know she is talented but her Inauguration ticketed looked the same as mine or yours which is probably hard for her to believe. You are just one of the people some days girlfriend.

I'm not surprised to hear these things... I know someone from Westport, CT, who had a similar report.

I love this! Have you ever seen the show "Whatever, Martha!" Although she is a great at cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc. She is a human being like everyone else!

I hope you get to feeling better soon! I loved this little look into Martha. It makes me feel not quite so bad when I don't have special hand towels put out for my guest.

This simply reinforces many stories I have heard from people's direct experiences with her in the past. Sounds like somebody needs to take a nice pill!

Glad to hear you are recovering! Sorry to hear you were sick in the first place. Bummer.
As far as Martha, consistent with what I've heard too.

So sorry you have been under the weather. I have been sick, too, but not flu. Just a horrible cold, but I am having a time of shaking it.

Interesting tidbits about Martha. Sometimes she is rather condescending to the audience's questions on her show. But she is the Martha :-) or so she thinks! They are all just people to me - maybe that realization comes with age!

i thought i heard something about this. i heard that she would come on the show, show up late sometimes, and then just leave once its done. i love her show, and even after hearing that and reading this i still love it because it's genius, but as a person, she isn't so great

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better! Martha has always come across as snotty, although I love her for the empire she has created. I think it's hilarious that she cleans out the mini bar...I've always suspected that she is a lush! She gets WAY too excited when she or a guest makes an alcholic beverage on her show. I still love her though :)

Feel better soon- I left you an award on my blog so I hope that helps! As for Martha, my godmother attended a small weekend course with Martha in her home. Very private and chic aparrently. Well they spent two days learning and conversing before they all bid farewell and GM and her mother headed into town to shop. They happen to run into Martha late the evening and obviouslt went and said hello. Well Martha would have nothing to do with them and asked them who they were and why they were talking to her! Not a a great way to keep clients around... However, even after this I will admit Martha is very talented and I am a fan!

It's fun to get a little inside scoop on Martha. I am a big fan, but always knew she had a mean streak. I am sure your husband has lots of dirt on her!

Enjoy your week!

I just went to a taping of her show recently and she was soooo condescending to her staff and she went on and on about her political beliefs which I think is Tacky with a capitol T. She is not a nice person. Talented, yes. Nice, no.

I LOVE behind the scenes stories. Truthfully, it makes her more real and interesting to me, although I don't think I would trust her near the liquor cabinet!

As for the flu, I would never get the shot because I hadn't had the flu since I was a small child. last winter I had a flu for ten days, even my toes hurt. This year?
I got the shot.
Hope you are all feeling better.

I'm a fan of her talent but I've heard so many stories like this. A good friend of mine interviewed with her company and even the assistants that worked for her were telling my friend to run... not the dream job everyone thought it was.

Happy New Year! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I read a biography of her and saw the movie with Cybil Shephard. I wondered if some of that was sour grapes or true. Looks like it's true. Looks like she needed a little humbling in prison and still hasn't gotten it!

I'm going to throw my two cents in to back you up. My major in college was Journalism and Electronic Media with a Magazine concentration - my advisor had very extensive magazine experience. One of her jobs was as Martha's personal assistant for two years. During the entire two years she never referred to her by her name. Instead she was "Hey Blonde Girl". It makes me feel better to know that so much of her magazine is actually from the creative minds of other people.

Loved the inside scoop on MARTHA!!! I think she is way over-rated.
