Christmas Greens: Real or Memorex

Well after our tree fell down and the needles fell off, we purchased another "fresh tree" and fresh roping, a few fresh wreaths both pine and boxwood. I just love fresh greens but every year, it is always a mess and seems like an unnecessary expense. Please let me know what you do.

People seem to have very strong opinions on this but several years ago we decided to just buy fake garlands etc. We like them just fine and when you put them up they look great.

Well... we live on Grand Cayman and everyone says real trees die quickly here because of the heat - so we bought a pink fake one!
Your garlands look lovely! Happy Holidays!!!

What a beautiful picture.

I wish I wasn't allergic to fresh greens. I guess the decision to go fake is easy for me, but I do love the look and smell of real trees!

I'm into fake for the years when we aren't hosting a big shindig. Much easier on my husband who seems to bounce off the wall and sends the dry boughs flying all over the place.

Fake trees are almost always made in China and who knows what type of lead and other chemicals they contain. No thanks.

Where you live, you must have a tree farm nearby? We bought ours from a tree farm and they cut it down then and there. Then when we got home, my husband gave it a fresh cut (cut off 1/2 inch off bottom) and keep it watered. They suck up a LOT of water but so far we haven't lost any needles, really.

Having said all that, I do own fake pine garland for the bannister. I use real pine garland for around the front door (outside). I think the real garland would be hard inside a home as there is no way to keep it watered. KWIM?

I love what you have done. It's worth the hassle and it looks beautiful!
