TEACH YOUR SONS SOME MANNERS!

Observing people in a big city made me realize, "Mothers...teach your sons some manners!"

SITUATION 1:

WHO: Men in black tie and woman in fancy dresses going to a formal event

WHAT: Elevator opens and one man walks out before everyone, second man waits for all women including us to exit elevator.

SUMMARY: Ditch that man (the one that walked out before everyone else) he is not all concerned about you or other people.

SITUATION 2:

WHO: Long haired, unshaven men in jeans, tee shirts, beat up car, baseball hats and smoking picking up two women and a baby from the train station.

WHAT:Woman are loading luggage and baby into the car while men sit in front seat smoking and talking. Men did not bring a car seat so baby was sitting on his mother's lap in the back seat.

SUMMARY: Since a baby is involved, I am guessing that you are stuck with him. All you can do is teach your son to be a better person.

Here are few etiquette books and dvd's for our boys.

Amen, girlfriend. I am happy to report that J opens doors for me, and his twin. I also taught him to pull out a womans chair when at the table, and to stand when a lady arrives, or gets up. Yeah me! BTW, he is 3.

And if it sounds like I am bragging.. I am. I am one proud Mama.

Hear, hear! TCP Toddler is only just two and I'm already on him like a hawk about his manners. I am proud to report that he says: please, thanks, and excuse me.

I would also recommend the Brooks Brothers book "How to Raise a Gentleman."

I SO AGREE, children need to be taught manners and use them daily. Some how a lot of society seems to have forgotten this critical role. Attention Moms: Give your children the gift of manners, its much better than a toy...

You hit the nail on the head! So true, speaking as a former teacher with no children yet there is a serious need for manners in our young men and our young women need to act like ladies too!

What a great post! We are working on the manners things with our little man. I think I will have to pick up some of these books.

I can't stand people who have no sense of basic manners!

The sons learn by how mom is treated and how she teaches them. Both my boys, college and high school age, open doors for perfect strangers and walk on the outside of the street when with girls. I think I did a good job so far. :)
